Dancing in the Flame by Ann Gimble

Hi there. I’m Ann Gimpel, author of Dancing in the Flame, a post-apocalyptic paranormal romance novella. With me today are Keira and Barrett. I’ll be asking them a few questions so they can tell you a little bit about themselves.
For Keira: What was it like to live in a Were bordello?
Hideous. I can’t even begin to describe it. It was like being a permanent second class citizen. Before I turned 18, the Weres had me working in the kitchens and waiting on them. They didn’t pay me anything then, beyond keeping a roof over my head and feeding me. Once I was old enough to turn tricks, I did get to keep some of the money I earned, but they charged me for my food, so it was impossible to earn enough to buy my indenture bond. I figured I’d be stuck hooking for them forever. See, they had this bracelet around my upper arm. It was a magical bracelet and I couldn’t get it off. They used it to track me and control me. I was depressed a lot of the time. In fact, the only bright spots in my life were when I visited Barrett’s magician supply shop. (Keira reaches out a hand. Barrett takes it.)
For Barrett: What did you feel when you first saw Keira in your magician supply shop?
(Drapes an arm around Keira and pulls her against him.) I was curious about her. Something about her didn’t ring true when I used my magic to try to figure out just what she was. I didn’t realize it at first, but that damned Were bracelet muted her power. Beyond that, she was such a lovely creature, I really wanted to get to know her better. I felt incredibly drawn to her. When she scooted out of my shop as if all the dogs of hell were nipping at her heels, I just had to follow her. We’d finally had a conversation and I wanted to talk with her some more.
For Keira: If you’d have been free, what would you have done with your life?
That’s a really, really difficult question. If I’d known who I truly was, and been free, I would have spent my early years preparing to lead my people. If I’d simply been free, but still had no idea about my Sidhe birthright, I probably would have scrabbled for existence like nearly everyone else. There wasn’t much left after ten years of war. I suppose I might have lived with the fairies and my friend, Renn.
For Barrett: What you felt when Caelin, the Daoine Sidhe leader asked you to rescue Keira? And you’d really have renounced if you’d have known that Caelin attempted to buy her from the were bordello?
(Barrett’s jaw sets into a hard line. His eyes flash annoyance.) Keep in mind I’ve known Caelin for a very long time, hundreds of years. That man has always played his cards close to his chest. I knew there were things he wasn’t telling me, but I was willing to play along and do my part to get Keira away from her captors. I hate the Weres. They’re animalistic bastards. If I could, I’d like to free all their indentured servants. Weres are the only magic wielders who do that sort of thing. Plus, I’ll admit I was looking forward to getting closer to Keira.
The other point you brought up, about Caelin not bothering to tell me he’d offered to buy her bond, would have been a deal-breaker. As it was, I walked into a dangerous situation. Caelin’s behind-the-scenes maneuvering made it all the more precarious. He knew I wouldn’t go if he told me everything, so he kept his mouth shut.
For Keira: How is like to think all your life that you don’t have magic just to discover that you probably are one of the most powerful woman in the world?
To be honest with you, I’m still coming to terms with that. It’s only been a very short time since Barrett rescued me from the Weres and Caelin removed the bracelet. Most days, I don’t feel fit to rule anyone, but then I remind myself if I learn my people’s history and work on my magic, maybe the day will come when I can call myself a queen, and wear the title proudly. (Keira cocks her head to one side and smiles.) Right now, I feel sort of like a fake, but everyone has been so nice, it warms my heart.
For Barrett: What made you fall in love with Keira?
The easy answer is her incredible beauty, but I’ve had stunning women walk into my life before and have left them be. No, the reason I fell in love with Keira is she has a beautiful soul. There’s something naïve and untouched about her that makes me want to take care of her and protect her from all the evils in the world. When I found out who she really was, I experienced immense conflict. On the one hand, I was happy for our people. On the other, I was devastated because I was certain I could never share her life.
(Taps breastbone.) Her spirit resonates right here. She fits with me, like the life’s partner I’ve hunted for, but never found.
Keira: “Aw, thanks, love. I feel the same way about you.” She turns her face up for a kiss.
Ann: Thanks, guys, that was very sweet. You know, I often get asked two questions about this book. One revolves around what happened to the humans after the atomic blasts. The other is who actually killed Queen Ivanne. Let me address them and then we’ll be done here.
One of the problems with novella length fiction is there are always a few unanswered questions. I suppose there should have been piles of human bodies scattered about, in varying stages of decomposition, after they died from radiation poisoning. An earlier version of DITF had something like that, but my publisher vetoed it as not appropriate in a romance story. We settled for heaps of trash.
Right along with Caelin and Barrett, I believe the Weres poisoned Ivanne. But they haven’t fessed up, so that’s something we’ll probably never know. The important thing is the Sidhe have a queen again. Once the babies start coming, hopefully the royal line won’t be in danger of dying out.
Thanks so much, Keira and Barrett, for coming along today for this interview.
In unison: Our pleasure!

Eve's Theives set for release 2013 - Peri's Interview

“Spell your name so the graphics people can put it on the screen correctly, please.”

The lanky-looking woman with the long, straight blonde hair flipped it over her shoulder. Her legs were covered by a blanket. “Peri Walker. P-E-R-I W-A-L-K-E-R.”

“Peri. That’s an unusual name for a woman.”

“It’s short for Perpugilliam. It’s a name from some British show. My dad was a fan.”

“What do you do for a living, Peri?”

Peri shifted in chair, looking around the room out of the corner of her eye. “I’m a P.I. – a private investigator.”

“Just look at me,” the interviewer said.

“Sorry,” said Peri.

“That’s all right,” the interviewer said. “So, what’s it like being a woman P.I.?”

“If you mean as compared to being a male P.I., I have no idea; I’ve never been one,” Peri said.

The interviewer laughed.

“Mostly, it’s routine investigations – cheating spouses, insurance investigations, the odd case where a family member feels their late loved one hasn’t gotten justice.” Peri was quiet for a second. “Or it was until recently.” She looked around again.

“We need you to look at me for how the shot will play on TV,” the interviewer said.

“Sorry,” said Peri. “I’ve got to keep an eye out. I never know what I’ll find, or who, or where.”

“And you’re looking for someone,” the interviewer said. “That’s why we’re doing this.”

Peri nodded. “I’m trying to locate victims of a very unusual set of thieves.”

“What’s so unusual about them?”

“It’s what they steal,” Peri said. “They steal things people think can’t be stolen.”

“You mean, like art objects, or well-guarded items?”

“You’re not going to believe my answer,” Peri said.

“Try me,” the interviewer said.

Peri seemed to withdraw within herself. She spoke quietly, but intensely. “We’re dealing with forces beyond the world you know … beyond the world of science, and computers. In layman’s terms, it’s magic, but what we’re dealing with, what I’m fighting, even goes beyond that. This is something that can … bend personal reality, shift it, twist it, and chew up the person it’s attached to in the process. It’s dark, dark magic, and very old. And so are some of its practitioners.”

The interviewer chuckled. “So, are we talking vampires?”

Peri’s gaze froze the interviewer to the core. “I only wish we were.”

“I’m sorry, but you have to admit, this is pretty bizarre sounding,” the interviewer said.

“Try living it,” snapped Peri. “I think we’re done here.”

“What?” the interviewer asked. “But I thought you’d say more about what you wanted.”

“You’re already mocking me, and when I try to explain what – and who – I’m looking for, you’ll laugh me out of the room,” Peri said. “You’ll never run this interview, even if we finish it. You’ll write me off as a nut, and the evil will continue, and this will have gotten me no closer to stopping it, and to finding the people I need to do this. This was a mistake.”

“But please, what is this evil? How ancient are we talking here?”

“I said we’re done,” Peri said. “Thank you, and I apologize for your wasted time.”

The interviewer sighed as she looked back at her cameraman. “All right, I guess we’re done. Let’s head back to the studio.”

(Tape ends.)

What does he care about most in the world: My mate and our family, our children when we have them and my Select Group. Also, for my goddesses.
Does he have a secret: No, not anymore.
Most embarrassing thing that ever happened to her: My foster mother visited me in my dorm room. She didn't give any notice. We were having a party. She found me in a very compromising situation with three men. She left quickly and hasn't spoken to me since. L
Taite was there too with her own group of guys having their way with her. And she made it worse, by yelling; Knock first bitch. Oh well! I guess my foster mom did call us sluts. Oh well, bet she has never had so much fun.

Please Wlecome Lukas Bucklin to the 'hot seat'

Good morning everyone. Today we have a special guest with us, so please give our guest a warm welcome to the hot seat! Introducing Mr. Lukas Bucklin

Television Host: Thank you audience for tuning in. I have an exclusive interview
with ‘The Lukas Bucklin’, a multi-billionaire with a take charge attitude. He has secrets,
let’s see if we can get him to expose them!

Host: Mr. Bucklin, you look nervous. This interview is very informal and I’ll start out
with an easy question. What’s your favorite food?

Lukas: What kind of question is that? I can afford any delicacy I want, delivered
whenever I want. Caviar, lobster, you name it!

Host: Okay, so my attempt to ease into the interview back fired, I’ll get down to business
and ask my next question. Who was your first girlfriend and how old were you when you
met?

Lukas: I was seventeen when I met the love of my life and she is the mother of my
son. I’ll leave it up to you figure out who I mean. You’ll have to read it in Desperate
Measures, the novel in which that damn author, Cindy something or other, chose to write
my life story.

Host: You don’t want to talk about that book do you, so I’ll ask about your career. How
long have you worked at your current job?

Lukas: Job? I don’t have a menial job! I’m the CEO and Chairman of the Board of my
own company. I built an empire.

Host: What’s your greatest pet peeve with you Mother/Father? Why?

Lukas: My father was ruthless but a peon. Oh, he may have started a gourmet grocery
store but I turned it into a national chain. That move on my part started the foundation on
which I built Bucklin Enterprises.

Host: Mr. Bucklin, you looked lost in thought there for a moment. Could there be some
truth in the saying, “Like Father Like Son?”

Lukas: Absolutley NOT!! Lukas slams his fist on the table.

Host: Lukas, if you could meet anyone living or dead who would it be and why?

Lukas: HA! What kind of question is that? Anyone in their right mind would love to meet
me. Didn’t you read what I did to protect…, Oh, well never mind that, you can read the
story in Desperate Measures but I am a force to be reckoned with, let me tell you that!

Host: Who’s your favorite artist, singer, etc.?

Lukas: I don’t have time for such nonsense! I have secrets that I have to scramble to
keep hidden. Desperate Deceptions, the next novel by that newbie author, is keeping me
hopping and I can’t let my past catch up with me. So if you’ll excuse me I have to protect
my family and…..

Host: Well, I guess that conclused todays interview. Thank you Mr. Brucklin, and good luck with your next endevour. Coming up next week we have another special guest. As well, we'll be hosting a special collection of guests coming soon so please stop by again. Have a good day.http://www.etreasurespublishing.com/products/Desperate-Measures-by-Cindy-Cromer.htmlhttp://www.etreasurespublishing.com/products/Desperate-Measures-by-Cindy-Cromer.html

Hema: King of the Vampires

Ladies and gents, make sure your throats are covered tonight we open our doors and the most comfortable couch in the place to none other than King Hema of the Vampire Nation. Welcome, Highness, please, come in and have a seat.
Sadly we don't serve blood but we do have a selection of excellent wines, perhaps I could tempt you with one of them.

Hema: How quaint such a tiny place. Full of so many mortals, although there are some I would doubt their mortality. Bruja, beloved was most insistant I come out this eve. Thank you for opening your doors to myself. 'Tis rare for mortals not to be running from my kind in absolute terror.
So, what shall we discuss here in this little coffee shop?

Thank you your Highness for coming. There's rumors even here among us humans of a war on the horizon. One that could spill into our world? Is this true?

Hema: War? Child, if my kind went to war your world would be no more. We are notoriously fixated - a flaw if you will within us. Nay, we do not face a war, in the sense of which you speak. Evil stirs, a madman threatens to rise, and our kind must stop him.

But what of the rumors you've been stealing men and women for this task?

Hema: Falsehoods. Why would we steal mortal flesh when compared to us, you are weak. Puny. I mean no disrespect at all but I have yet to see those not of our worlds compare to our skills, our strength, endurance...Nay, I'd not steal a mortal to do an immortal job.

You seem so certain of this. Yet there are disappearances...

Hema: Once, many years ago in an act of grief, rage, driven to punish, I cast from our ranks those who were of our flesh. For generations they have lived, bred, died as mortals. But now, with the rise of Him those who were forsaken to us must be returned to their rightful place. We have had many return, embraced by the people's they came from. Vampire, Dragon, Troll, Demon, all those I punished unjustly are being returned.

Centuries past the first was welcomed back into our world. Bede, a woman unlike any I'd ever seen. Strong, resilient, a fitting mate to my most trusted Captain. Within her heart lay the key to a future so many of us have longed for. Even now, she loves Gawain with a passion I have not seen since my beloved Mundy, but I welcome it.

Fear not this upheaval among the immortals, we must unite to keep those who would destroy us in place - I have no doubts it will be successful. We have warriors who are skilled in the arts I dare not speak of.

Hostess: And will this unity involve humans at all?

Hema: *laughs* Unless you suddenly become one of us, no. We walk within your world but it is not ours and we've no desire to claim it. I beg you forgive my sudden departure but I hear my Queens calling. 'Tis close to the Red Moon and there is a birth nearing.
